About the project

Natura Libanotica is a peer-reviewed citizen-science project launched by the Lebanese Association for Nature Conservation Awareness (LANCA).

The objective of this initiative is to document the biodiversity of Lebanon and create an open-access database of the fauna, flora and funga of the country, supporting research, education, and conservation efforts. Moreover, the project features a virtual museum showcasing fossils from different taxa and geological ages discovered within the Lebanese territory.

Through this project and other activities, LANCA works on raising awareness and promoting appreciation for our natural heritage.
